Lightning storms send radiowaves into space, so an ultra high power signal of that type wouldn't have creature built transmitter burnout issues.

Andromeda galaxy 2.5 million lightyears away. So a lightspeed signal could have taken 2.5 million years (probably considerably less, if true that atomic processes used to measure the second run much faster between galaxies) to reach earth, if it is truly localised enough for a radio telescope/s to be certain it came from there, and not some much closer line-of-sight intervening location ? To be a line-of-sight signal it would need to be an extremely focused frequency like microwave or optical on up through UV. If it was only a lower RFrequency then it could have come from anywhere, even the moon or earth. To be microwave up through UV, it would have to be unimaginably high power at it's allegedly 2.5 million year distant home planet, which is inconceivable. That sort of ultra-high power microwave/optical (millions of years) transmission would destroy any *creature built* (material) transmitter.

Even our closest neighbouring star (?candidate signal?) is still 4.25 lightyears away, likely to be further than a creature built transmitter could send a collimated beam (and life can't live on sun-stars, only goldilocks planets which signal seekers hope to be among the significantly more distant systems - perhaps including the Centaurus system around 500+ lightyears away)

Compared with 6 billion kms or 6*10^9 kms for our pale blue dot.
