God Help

After years of trialling various diets without breaking through my weight plateau, or risking serious heart disease by ignoring Heart Foundation warnings, I've discovered a simple approach that offers all the benefits without collateral risks.

The Olive Diet. Simply mix into a cup of your preferred milk (or optionally flavoured water) 1 teaspoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It has a very mild taste as the milk effectively dilutes it. More than 1 teaspoon can cause diarrhea.

Unlike Keto, there's a low level of saturated fat so much less risk of clogging our arteries. We still move the body toward burning ketones for energy, instead of carbs (refined or starchy). Blue zone research indicates that the Mediterranean diet improves quality and length of life. One of the key ingredients is extra virgin olive oil.

We quickly achieve satiety, like with those diets, but in a sustainable, affordable, even repeatable way, with all the benefits and none of the complexity of the Mediterranean blue zone diet. We are likely to still need additional health supplements, particularly if over 40 years of age.

Extra-virgin olive oil contains antioxidants, saturated and monounsaturated fats and vitamins E and K that prevent blood sugar spikes. It reduces blood glucose and LDL levels, oxidative stress, and inflammation and prevents sudden blood sugar spikes.

Olive oil comes in 3 different types i.e. refined, virgin, and extra virgin forms. Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is considered to be the healthiest choice for diabetics. 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of extra virgin olive oil contains the following nutrients:
Saturated Fats: 14%
Monounsaturated Fat: 73%
Vitamin E & K: 13%

It is also purely fat, containing no sugar, proteins, and carbohydrates. Hence, its glycemic index (GI) is considered nearly zero, making it the best cooking oil for diabetes.
